On our way! Well, sort of.

Hey folks, here's an update for you. We began gathering at around 12:30 at First EFC, had a wonderful time in pray as a large group at 1, and we left Ames right on schedule at 1:30! Got checked in at the counter in Des Moines, and off we were to our gate with about an hour to spare before boarding our Chicago bound flight, scheduled for 4:25.

At about 3pm, we get an announcement that severe weather in Chicago has grounded flights, and that our flight will not leave until they get cleared (I think since it is only a 49 minute flight).

Well, we waited, and then sat there, and waited some more. We finally got the go-ahead at 6:25 to board, which made us nervous about making our connecting flight at 8:25. We finally took off from Des Moines at 7:19, which = missed flight into London.

We got a great tour of Chicago's famous O'hare airport! And finally met a wonderful ticket agent named Ana from Columbia who got us all set up. So, I'm writing this from the Holiday Inn at O'hare, a little after midnight on day 1. We have had to postpone our arrival into Kazakhstan by 1 day, but it looks like we should be on the same flight in as David and Pamela, which should be fun!

All in all, everything has been good. I'm proud of the team members and how they have handled everything so far! It gives me great confidence and encouragement to see their trust in God! We have an unplanned day tomorrow in Chicago, because our flight doesn't leave until 7:30pm.

  • Please pray with us that this day is treated not as a waste, but as an opportunity.
  • Please join us in Prayer for Ana, she was excited that she will be working the counter tomorrow when we check back in, and she is looking forward to helping us again. Pray that we can have a positive impact on her life and show her Jesus!
  • Pray for the students in Kazakhstan who have had to respond to the class being pushed back, that they would not be discouraged, and would perhaps be even MORE excited beacause of the "anticipation". :)
  • Pray that we as a team would stay focused, and unified.
Oh that Jeff "ice cream" Brenner hadn't prayed for God to give us "surprises"...actually, on second thought, we will take those surprises, and ask God to redeem them, and use them to glorify Himself.

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son!

Joel,
You're a much better writer than I realized. Must have learned that from me. :) I hope the rest of your flights are less eventful!

Love,
Anna
